The Grinder is the latest incarnation of a focussed effort realized long before ARE AUDIO was formed - but believe us, the coffee was there then too.

A beautiful radius with gradually sloped sides provides excellent diffraction control, allowing the driver to speak to the listener directly and seamlessly. The enclosure's profile is inherently more rigid and non resonant than any typical square design constructed of the same material.

Inside there is a dividing baffle sporting tuned vents that control airflow between upper and lower chambers, the latter being vented to the floor; a system which provides excellent damping in the critical mid-band. Isolated from the floor with 3 tall spikes, the down firing port is given the necessary space to perform. This allows the listener to better tune the low frequency enforcement by experimenting with the placement of the grinder on different surfaces, to obtain optimum sound. The drivers employed in this design are the same style we are partial to in all of our speakers; a timeless textile dome and a wool cone woofer to provide the music lover with an engaging experience. In line with our minimalist approach, a first order network splits the signal, keeping the drivers closer to your amplifier with minimal phase shift and energy storage.

All in all, the grinder is a social speaker with appealing asthetics that would be sure to fit into most music lovers existing systems, or create a first-rate base for hi-fi newcomers to build upon. The numbers indicated that the grinder would sound great before the design ever left paper. Once it was finished we sat and listened, we drank java, and we smiled. Yeah, it sounded great.
